The Company is very excited to present a retrospective of favorite dances created since it’s inception in 1979. An award-winning choreographer, Anahid Sofian and her Company have been acclaimed for their versatility and ability to perform in a wide range of styles, from the traditional to contemporary interpretations, incorporating elements from ballet, modem dance and jazz. Their repertoire is unique and original with dances inspired by the cultures of the Near and Middle East — Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, P…ersia, Armenia, Greece, Uzbekistan and numerous renditions of the Oriental dance. They have been featured in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Theatre of Riverside Church, Town Hall, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and for over 10 years at the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts. Be sure to save the date and come celebrate with a fabulous cast of 20 dancers and seven musicians!

Raquy Danziger is a celebrated performer, teacher and composer known worldwide for her expertise on the dumbek, the Middle-eastern hand drum. Hailing from unlikely Western roots, Raquy has distinguished herself as a unique phenomenon and earned a place of renown in the genre. In demand on several continents, she has collaborated and pe…rformed with several of the most famous Middle Eastern drummers in the world. Since her last time in New York, Raquy Danzinger laid down 10 sultry, otherworldly recordings while in Turkey to complete her brand new album: Bal Dudak (“Lips of Honey”).
On the evening of March 1st, Raquy Danzinger, along with her band (including Rami El Aasser, Haig Manoukian, Adam Good and others) will transform the atmosphere of the Brooklyn Music School theater into an otherworldly space of mind-bending notes from another time and place. Joined by dancer: Sera Solstice and opening the night with 50 dancers of Solstice Studio in a streaming collage of contemporary fusion Bellydance. Prepare to sit back and be transported to a world of rich sound and movement.
